Dear ECC & REC Families,
We know how much sadness and fear there is in our community right now surrounding the terrorism and violence in Israel. We are here for you and your families during this painful and surreal time and want to share some important information:
At this time, law enforcement is not reporting any credible threats against the Greater MetroWest community. We are in constant communication with the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest’s Chief Security Officer, the Millburn Police Department, and our internal security team. We continue to take proactive steps that are both visible and not visible to our community members, always with an abundance of caution for the safety of our children and our families. We are thankful to our community members for complying with our safety procedures and bringing any concerns directly to our attention.
We know there is a high volume of misinformation flooding social media. While our natural inclination is to react strongly to what we read, it is more important than ever to be cognizant that the sharing of unverified, shocking, or inflammatory posts can cause undue stress and anxiety to all of us. Continuing to keep a consistent routine for ourselves and our children, while living cautiously and with Jewish pride, is one of the ways we combat this horrific time.
Tomorrow morning at 9:00 am, please join our clergy, educators, and Debbie Evans, LCSW to process the last few days for ourselves and how we might talk to our children about Israel.
Tomorrow evening at 5:30 pm we will be hosting a Shabbat Service in Solidarity with Israel which will include remarks from Senator Cory Booker. In these difficult times, community can be an incredible balm for our spirits. Let’s come together in every way we can.
Praying for the People of Israel,
Michele Feingold, Director, Early Childhood Center Abra Lee, Director of Jewish Education and Learning Initiatives Rabbi Karen Glazer Perolman
