The Kadyrov Family arrived from Ukraine

Over the coming months, TBJ will support the Kadyrov’s journey to get back on their feet after a challenging year of uncertainty since the start of the war in Ukraine. We will help them settle into a home, find work, access medical care, enroll the children in school, learn English, and begin to rebuild their lives.
Here are a few ways to help (click the links below):
Sign up to volunteer! We are looking for people who are willing to be contacted for ad hoc volunteer opportunities including: giving rides, helping with errands, serving as a translator (for members who speak Russian), connecting with the kids, helping with move-in on March 26th, or offering any other specific skills that might be helpful in the coming days and months.
Donate to support the family through their first year in the US. Please know any funds will go directly to the effort with no money going to administrative functions. Thank you to those who have already contributed, and we still need funds to ensure their financial stability. Alternatively, we are collecting $25 Uber, Trader Joe’s and ShopRite gift cards to be left in the lock box outside the main entrance.
Judaism teaches that "to save a single life is considered to have saved the whole world,” and as a community, we are in a pivotal moment to put these words into action. We hope you will join us in this important mitzvah to help this family reach a place of safety and stability.

Helping Ukraine: UPDATES
United Hatzalah of Israel continues to use the generous donations from our TBJ family and other partners to help the people of Ukraine:
The weekend of August 13-14, 2022, United Hatzalah received 18 tons of supplies at their warehouse in Ukraine. These are critical supplies including IVs, ventilators, medications, antibiotics, tourniquets, hemostatic bandages and 300 additional Individualized First Aid Kits that serve as medical trauma bags and are given to doctors and medics to help treat injured civilians. They have also received food, hygiene and feminine products. All of these materials will be divided up and brought to cities throughout Ukraine to ensure hospitals and communities have what they need to continue getting through this difficult war.

On June 30, 2022, thanks to your incredible partnership and that of the Jewish Agency and the JDC, a plane with 84 refugees including 7 critically ill patients landed at Ben Gurion Airport. Here is a picture of the ambulances departing the airport to bring the patients to medical facilities in Israel.

WISE AND TBJ UKRAINE CAMPAIGN
Stephen Wise Temple in Los Angeles and Congregation B’nai Jeshurun of Short Hills, N.J., partnered with United Hatzalah to raise funds for Operation Orange Wings - in support of bringing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and evacuating 150 fleeing refugees to Israel by April 1, 2022.

Little Sun - All donations made to Little Sun will go towards supplying solar lamps and power banks to people affected by the war in Ukraine. As part of Little Sun's longstanding humanitarian aid efforts, they are working with local NGOs to bring solar items – along with vital aid supplies – to areas of the country that have been cut from the electricity grid and are running out of gas and oil. That way, individuals and families can stay connected and have access to essential supplies for immediate relief.
